The new iPad has a new Retina display, A5X processor, 5-megapixel
camera, 4G mobile broadband among other features. The new iPad has
caused the iPad 2 to witness a significant price drop (more of that
below).
The 3rd generation
iPad was released on March 7th, 2012 at a special event in the Yerba
Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. This is the same venue that
Steve Jobs introduced the Apple iPad 2 in March 2011. The new Apple iPad
has great new features and thus will increase the competition in the
already competitive tablet market. Here is a brief look at a few of the
tablet's features.
Improved Retina Display
The tablet PC features an improved version of Retina display than that found on the Apple iPad 2. This gives the device a crisp clear HD display and a screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 compared to a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 found on the 2nd generation iPad.

A5X Processor
The device has a processor update from the current A5 to the new A5X. The new A5X processor has a quad-core GPU but a dual-core CPU. The new iPad is thus not a true quad-core tablet as we had anticipated. However, the manufacturer says the new processor is twice as Nvidia's new quad-core processor (Tegra 3), found on a number of top Android tablet computers.

Cameras
The iPad 2 received a lot of bad reviews because of the poor cameras that are unable to produce satisfying video and still shots. With the latest Apple tablet, you can now take quality video and still shots, as it has a 5-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording quality of 30 frames per second. The optics on the back are bigger allowing more light into the picture.

Operating System
The tablet has an operating system update from the current iOS 5 to a new iOS 5.1. The new operating system is sleek and easy to use and brings iCloud streaming for movies. iPhoto has been brought to the iPad and supports a max resolution of 19-megapixel, giving you pin sharp images. iWorks and iLife have received a boost to take advantage of the new Retina display.

Connectivity
On the wireless front the new iPad offers support for every wireless standard you can possibly imagine including Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, 4G mobile broadband, and Bluetooth 4.0. The device supports AirPlay mirroring up to 1080p on the new Apple TV.
